:: February 22, 2012::

This week Cody attended a zone conference. Cody's Bishop came and gave him and his companion a hand with fixing their washer!  Yea now they can have nice, clean white shirts again! Cody and his companion now have three new investigators.  They're very nice people.  One of them hasn't made it to the point to believe in our Savior. He thinks that Jesus was just a normal every day man.  As he studies, prays and takes the discussions he will feel the Holy Ghost and it will tell him that it is true, it just takes time and God will testify this to him. Another investigator they had met previously but haven't been able to give her a lesson. It's been a short time, but they finally got back to see her.  They taught her The First Lesson. They talked to her for quite awhile and were able to know her a lot better.  They were so thankful they got to know more about her life.  This makes a good connection when you know what their talents, hopes and aspirations are.  Frequently you find that you have some of the same goals in life. At Christmas time I sent Cody and his companions a few Book of Mormons and some CD's about the church from the Distribution Center.  In the Book of mormons I just wrote my testimony on the inside cover.  This was one of their 12 days of Christmas books that  I challenged them to give out.  They have been very helpful for them.  I thought they would have them at the Mission office, but it doesn't sound like that is the case. So if you're wondering what you can send to him, either of these are a great idea and very helpful. When I was a leader in Young Womens, I remember one of our Youth activities was to write our testimony in the book of mormon and paste a picture of us on the inside of the book.  It was so fun making these.  I know the missionaries appreciated them.  They were extra special for the investigators because of the testimony's in them.  I'm sure with the combination of the book, testimony and love of the missionaries; the investigators lives were changed forever. They have transfers every six weeks, so Cody should be about ready for a transfer. I told Cody how much Uncle Bruce has been helping me and he said, "yeah Bruce is a great uncle."  I have to agree with him.  If it wasn't for Uncle Bruce and Uncle Dennis I don't know where I would be right now.  They've taken care of me while I've been sick.  They've also helped me move (along with Clint, Felissia and Josh).  Cody asked if I liked the snow.  Which we've really had none to speak of this year.  I don't mind the snow so much as long as I don't have to shovel it.  That's too big of a task for me to do anymore.  My MS gives me so many muscle spasms that at times I can't do much.  I've noticed this year more so than others that my MS is bothering more than in the past.  But we're making the best of it and doing what we can.   Cody said he is good with everything on his mission so far. He really enjoys the investigators like Rebecca who are really excited about learning more about our religion.  It was a challenge in the beginning when they would tract and get the doors closed in his face.  He was getting a little discouraged.  But then I reminded him God has a plan and that includes when these individuals are willing to learn.  I reminded him they won't ever forget the good feeling through the Holy Ghost that they shared in those short moments.  Sometime down the road they will want to feel that feeling all the time and take the lessons.  Every door they knock on is important.  Even if they're not interested then, they will have planted that seed for them to have the desire to learn in the future.  Cody said it takes a little while for mail to get to him so he doesn't think its good to send wet foods. Thank you all for your love and support. Stay happy. Mathew 14: 22-33. Its a Scripture Cody really likes.  It says, "And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and, to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.  And when he had sent the multitudes away. He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.  But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves for the wind was contrary.  And in the fourth watch of the night.  Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.  And when disciples saw them walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.  And Peter answered him and said,Lord,  if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.  And he said, Come.  And when Peter was come down out of the ship, the wind ceased.  Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying; of a truth thou art the Son of God.
